Interesting debate. But what about microdoses of fertilizers? And isn’t the most forceful argument against fertilizers in SSA that farmers simply cannot afford them?
I’ve nothing against microdoses, and they make more sense than indiscriminate use. as for the “can’t afford” argument, I think Sachs says we should just give it to them, at least for the short term. But as long as fertilizers depend on oil, which they almost all do, that’s not sustainable at any price.
