Nature's Matrix, which I highlight in recommended reads, makes a strong case for why agriculture and conservation need not be at loggerheads including the potential benefits to food production of conservation of native pollinators and other benefical insects. A World With Bees is another 'popular' book I would add to that list, and recommend in relation to this particular blog post.
