  1. “African Development Bank makes a bet on agroforestry. Maybe health is why?” This is the same old stuff about native species. If you want to ensure production of almost anything, then introduce. There are masses of trees from S.E. Asia and tropical America that will perform better than the limited range of African trees and shrubs (and vegetable, and other crops). A large proportion of plant species in Africa are toxic – a heritage of the extensive African wildlife eating everything in the dry season.
