Dear Reader

We like to update the site whenever we find something we think will interest you, which is every time we find something that interests us. You could of course come back every so often to check what’s new. But a simpler way of keeping up to date is to subscribe to the site using RSS.

What is RSS?

RSS (really simple syndication) is a way to have information regularly sent to you from a website in what’s called a “feed.” As a user you can receive these feeds in special RSS reader software, rather like an email reader. Many, many web sites now offer RSS feeds to keep readers abreast. Usually there’s some kind of symbol like this that indicates a feed:

How do I start using RSS feeds?

The first thing you need is something called a Feed Reader. There are many different versions. Some are online and use a browser. Some are programs that you download and run on your computer, and some are online services that send you an email when one of the sites you are watching changes. Many are free. All allow you to display and subscribe to the RSS feeds you want.

You can find a Feed Reader through a search engine. Different Feed Readers work on different operating systems, and you will need to take this into account.

Some browsers, for example Firefox, Opera and Safari, allow you to automatically pick up RSS feeds. For more details on these, please check their websites. There are some neat browser extensions.

If you don’t want to mess with a Feed Reader, and don’t mind an ad or two, you could try Blogtrottr. Just give it the RRS link and your email, choose “daily digest,” and sit back and wait for the email alerts to flood into your inbox. We’ve tried it and it’s ok.

We encourage you to try a Feed Reader; it makes keeping up so much simpler.
