Is data a bottleneck to PPP in conservation too?

Lawrence Haddad of GAIN has a blog post out on the “the data gaps that inhibit productive engagement between the public and the private spheres to advance nutrition.” It’s nicely summarized in a tweet.

Strikes me that many of the same things could be said about public-private partnerships in conservation of agricultural biodiversity too. Only more so.

It’s the time of year for major reports, I guess. Here’s what’s on the table:

HLPE. 2017. Nutrition and food systems. A report by the High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition of the Committee on World Food Security, Rome.
FAO. 2017. The State of Food and Agriculture 2017 — Leveraging food systems for inclusive rural transformation. FAO, Rome.
IPES-Food. 2017. Unravelling the Food–Health Nexus: Addressing practices, political economy, and power relations to build healthier food systems. The Global Alliance for the Future of Food and IPES-Food.

Massive expectations for MOOC on climate change adaptation

UNDP, FAO and UNITAR have just announced a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on National Adaptation Plans Building Climate Resilience in Agriculture. It starts 13 November.

If you want to learn from development professionals currently engaged in national adaptation planning and agriculture, then this 6-week course is for you.

I opened the syllabus with trepidation, but it does look like the role of agricultural biodiversity will be addressed.
