Episode 4 Blight on the Landscape
Potato blight in Ireland (at about 13 minutes 36 seconds): “The disaster was to highlight what happens when plants move far from their origins…” The lady is implying that moving plants away from their origins make them more susceptible to disease. The success of introduced crops almost certainly indicates the opposite.
