Our friend Danny has a new blog at agrobiodiversitie, the final two letters of which are a reference to his native Ireland. He’s trying to find out more about Erna Bennett, one of the great pioneers of genetic conservation. Indeed, she coined that phrase, which I didn’t know. Anyway, take a look at Danny’s site and if you can help, leave a comment there. Here’s our contribution.
Thank you very much for flagging this. Already getting some interesting anecdotes about Erna’s work in countries. If anyone happens to have any other similar stories to share they will certainly be much appreciated.
Had some good comments from Eliseu Bettencourt about Erna’s work in Portugal. I am sure there are others out there who were familiar with Erna Bennett when she worked at FAO. Anyone? Scottish Plant Breeding Station? Maybe not.
