hysterophorus – Not completely sure about this specific epithet, but hystero- means after, and -phorus refers to a general structure that bears something, so a sporangiophore is a structure that bears sporangia. Not much help because to what specifically it refers remains unknown.
Yes, that’s what I was thinking, unless the hystero- in this case is linked to female parts, or possibly something along the hystrix line.
