I am a plant/arbor/eco/”green” enthusiast living here in beautiful Winter Park, FL. Recently, I began developing a botany/horticulture iPhone and Android app to help people all over the world learn about the plants and trees around us through the use of image reading technology.
This app app is designed to tell you everything you would want to know (for the “layperson”) about any known species of plant or tree in the world, simply by taking a picture of its leaf.
This is not a solicitation for money or funding from YOU. However, I am seeking the expert opinions of Botany/Horticultural/Eco/Gardening experts – such as yourself – to write a short opinion about this innovative project which we truly believe will bring value and education to people all over the world.
By taking a picture of a leaf, the app will be able to discern:
1) The species of plant or tree
2) Tell you it’s nutritional and medicinal value
3) Tell you to cultivate, grow, nurture and protect it and where it is indigenous to
4) Tell you whether or not it is endangered or approaching endangerment
5) Provide the ability to “drop a pin” using GPS technology so that users can upload their images to the app and a website, and interact with each other all over the world through experiences via a “twitter-like” storyboard with images and videos and comments
What I AM asking for, is for you to take a few moments and go to http://www.i-bo-planet.com, click on “comments” and write a short comment, post, blog, or “blurb” about what this would mean you, and the Botany/Horticulture/Gardening World if this app were to be able to be “realized.”
I would allow full disclosure to “plug” your own blog or website with your links and contact information to help to drive traffic and create exposure to the wonderful content you provide through your own mediums.
This is a request for your expert ENDORSEMENT. I am asking nothing else and humbly appreciate you considering my request.
Thanks for everything you do and provide to us through your blog and website content.
Very Sincerely,
Steve Bowen
