There’s a new online Sweetpotato Knowledge Portal. Lots of stuff on germaplasm conservation, breeding, seed systems, value addition etc. It really does look quite interesting, but, frustratingly, I have no idea who’s behind it. Institutionally, that is. There’s not a logo in sight anywhere. Seems to be driven by sweetpotato researchers themselves, many, but by no means all, at CIP. I shall be watching it closely, via its RSS feed.
They mention that it is a project of CIP and SASHA, but SASHA seems to be a project of CIP. But I agree, if so, why no CIP logo, etc.?

And he seems to be the research information systems manager for breeders at CIP.
As you have correctly identified, I am the main person behind the sweetpotato knowledge portal. CIP has initiated the portal, but we have decided not to brand it as CIP, as we try to encourage all scientists working on sweetpotato to participate. What I hope is that different projects and institutions will use it to post information rather than creating a lot of small project websites. And the ‘branding’ should then be done on the individual documents, so that the attribution is clear. The comment: “Seems to be driven by sweetpotato researchers themselves” is spot on, that is the fundamental idea. If you work on sweetpotato you are most welcome to sign up and participate.
