Indian writer Praises `Food Sovereignty’
While small family farms are excellent at feeding themselves and some of their neighbours, they cannot feed the expanding cities across the Third World. Activists recommend `food sovereignty’ and a focus of `agro-ecology’ to prevent the spread of Green Revolution increases in national food production characteristic of the CGIAR Centres.
There is a possibility that any country adopting `food sovereignty’ is being duped by international NGOs funded by and representing the interests of major crop exporting countries.
