Feasting in Upper Mesopotamia: Lots of wild barley around the region at the PPNA/PPNB transition. “With the end of the Younger Dryas the proportions of wild barley (H. spontaneum) increase, whereas Triticum-type taxa appear in low counts.” I’ll bet they were not just feasting but drinking beer – the easiest way to prepare barley with all that nasty chaff and awns. And all those lovely carved megaliths make a good setting.
