Regarding your nibble on pet-toxic garden plants
That’s the second time this week that I’ve read about the toxicity of lilies, so the comms. are certainly proving effective. Could someone explain what chemicals are in lilies that make them so toxic to cats that even brushing against the pollen can lead to death if it is injested through grooming. I’m curious to read these accounts as I’ve lived with two cats, both of whom died as geriatics aged 18 (human years!) And both of whom lived with day lilies in the garden and vases of oriental and tiger lilies in the house as we hadn’t heard about this toxicity. Were we just very lucky? I’m interested to get the opinions of sciency pro plants weblog readers.
