Re the lack of correspondence between rainfall and fruit production in Tai Forest – (a) tropical tree production can vary from 7 mo to odd intervals of greater than a year irrespective of “rainfall”. So natch, cycles “with rainfall” will be hard to detect. (b) trees were getting older and more productive over the study period (suggestion only for increasing production. It’s never simple….
